Kayak Boardshorts

I'm so excited to bring you my first pattern review!

I had the privilege of testing the Kayak Boardshorts from Love Notions!

The shorts get 5 stars from both me and the littlest Farmboy!
With 2 views and size that goes from 2t-14 they are awesome for the multi-boy family!! 
They are perfect for a day at the beach or preschool! 

 I made this version out of quilting cotton that he hand picked. 
This is a size 3t on my 50th percentile for height and weight 5 year old.

Please don't go by store bought sizes when making your own clothes...measure...measure and measure again to ensure you are getting the correct fit!

The shorts have a knit elastic encased waistband and a faux front fly detail that really adds finish to the shorts.  I only did a single top-stitch but would recommend either a double needle top-stitch or top stitching twice about 1/4" apart.  The waistband is quick and easy.  If you have problems there is even a helpful video outlining the process linked right in the tutorial!!

One of the Farmboy's favorite features are the pockets!  They are a good size without being bulky or overly large that things might get lost in there.  

The Kayak Boardshorts pattern is a PDF pattern that you just purchase, print, tape and then you are ready to roll.  These shorts sew up fast and even as a beginner you can have them done in one afternoon/evening.

Hi y'all and welcome to my new blog!

My name is Caci (pronounced KC) from The Flossy Farmgirl.

I am a Christian, farmwife, momma to 4 littles, and seamstress. 

 I spend my days milking cows on the family farm, cleaning house, running kids to & from school, baseball and whatever else they may have, washing clothes and dishes and trying to get 3 meals on the table.  I spend my nights and spare time in my sewing room creating.  

I sew, quilt and crochet.  As this year progresses you will see my various creations.  Some might be little girl outfits or boys shorts, others might be face scrubbies or a quilt.  I've never had any formal training...everything I do are skills that are self taught, you tube found or remembered from my Granny Price.  

I will be sharing about upcoming releases in my Etsy shop, sewing tips, life on the farm, #momlife with 4 kids and more!  I'm so excited to start this new adventure!
